How to Prepare Your Vehicle for a Mobile Detail in Brentwood, TN

Five minutes of prep buys you more detailing time. Here is exactly what helps — and what you can leave alone.

The short answer

Preparing for a mobile detail in Brentwood takes about five minutes: clear personal items out of the cabin and cargo area, park where we can get close and open every door, make sure we can access the vehicle, and tell us in advance about pet hair, spills or odor. You do not need to wash it, and you don't need to provide water or power.

None of this is required for us to do the job — we work around plenty of loaded vehicles. But every minute spent relocating your belongings is a minute not spent detailing, and prep is the cheapest way to get more out of the appointment you've already paid for.

The Five-Minute Checklist

01

Empty the cabin

Paperwork, chargers, sunglasses, gym bags, water bottles. Anything loose means a surface we can't reach until it's moved.

02

Clear the cargo area

Strollers, sports gear, tools and grocery bags. The trunk or cargo floor can't be extracted with items sitting on it.

03

Take valuables with you

Cash, electronics, garage remotes and anything sensitive in the glovebox or console.

04

Park with working room

Somewhere we can bring the unit close, walk all the way around, and open every door fully.

Level and shaded, if you can

Level ground makes interior and paint work easier, and shade keeps water and product from drying too fast in warm weather.

What You Should Not Do

Don'tWhy
Pre-wash the vehicleWashing is included, and we'd rather assess the paint as it is
Dry-wipe dust or pollen off the paintThat's how fine scratching starts — leave it for the rinse
Apply a protectant beforehandIt has to come off before we can do anything properly
Hide the conditionAccurate information is what keeps the quote accurate

Honest condition beats a tidy first impression every time

Tell us about the interior honestly

Heavy pet hair, sand, set-in stains and smoke odor all add real labor. Saying so when you book means the appointment is scheduled long enough and the price is right from the start, rather than revised on arrival. Details on what those services involve are on the interior detailing page and the smoke and odor removal page.

Car seats

If you want the area underneath fully cleaned, remove the seat before we arrive. We won't uninstall or reinstall child seats — that's a safety line we don't cross.

Booking in Brentwood

Tell us the vehicle and condition and we'll confirm pricing before the appointment.

What We Bring

Everything. The mobile unit carries water, power, extraction equipment, polishers, and all product. You aren't running a hose from the side of the house or finding an outlet in the garage, which is also why appointments work in condo and office lots where we're permitted to work.

Access and keys

We need to get into the vehicle to do the interior. Most Brentwood customers leave the keys with us or in an agreed place and get on with the day. If you'd rather be present for the walkaround, let us know and we'll time it accordingly.

You don't have to wait around

Once we have access and a place to work, the appointment doesn't need you.

Planning the Timing

Appointment length tracks vehicle size, service level and condition. A maintenance service on a clean sedan is short; a full interior and exterior reset on a three-row SUV is a different job. We give a window rather than a single number so the estimate is honest. All of the service levels and their inclusions are on the detailing packages page.

Common questions

Appointment Prep FAQs

Should I wash the car before you come?

No. Washing is part of the service and it's better for us to see the paint as it actually is.

Do I need to remove child car seats?

Only if you want the seat area underneath fully detailed. We clean around them, but we don't uninstall or reinstall car seats for safety reasons.

Where should I park the vehicle?

Somewhere we can pull the unit close and open all the doors — a driveway is ideal. Level ground and some shade both help.

What about valuables and paperwork?

Take valuables with you and clear the glovebox and console of anything you'd rather we didn't handle.

Does prep change the price?

Prep doesn't change the quote, but a cleared-out vehicle means more of the appointment is spent on detailing rather than moving belongings.
